Place Documentation Examples into Diataxis Quadrants

Focus on the real intent: is it meant to teach, to guide, to explain, or to reference?

You’ll work in teams to classify short documentation excerpts using the Diátaxis model. The tutor will draw the Diátaxis coordinate system on the whiteboard:

  • One axis: Learning ↔ Doing
  • The other: Understanding ↔ Practical

Your task:

  1. Read each excerpt carefully and decide where it belongs on the diagram.
  2. When your team agrees, one member walks or runs to the board and places the page in the correct quadrant using an office magnet.
  3. Return to your seat so the next teammate can go — every run must be by a different person (e.g., Peter–Anna–Peter is fine, but Peter–Anna–Anna is not).
  4. The first team to place all pages wins the round.
  5. The tutor will award up to 5 bonus points based on the quality of the placements — but only to the winning team.
